April 8, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Join us for our monthly FrankTalks as we hear from David Plazas of The Tennessean, Shanna Singh Hughey of Think Tennessee, and Franklin Mayor Ken Moore for a discussion on Civility in Tennessee.

This free event is made possible by the generosity of our presenting partner, Williamson Medical Center, and Renasant Bank, our platinum partner. A 30-minute coffee networking session will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the hour-long program at 9:30 a.m.

David Plazas is the opinion and engagement director for the USA TODAY NETWORK – Tennessee and opinion and engagement editor for The Tennessean. In January 2018, under his leadership, The Tennessean launched Civility Tennessee, a yearlong campaign to engage the community behind four core values:

  • To encourage conversations that are civil and respectful, even if they are hard;
  • To enhance civic participation in important conversations such as the local, state and federal elections of 2018;
  • To help promote voter registration efforts;
  • To increase news literacy and enhance trust between consumers and publications.

Hughey is president of ThinkTennessee, a nonpartisan think tank based in Nashville. For more about ThinkTennessee, visit www.thinktennessee.org.

In 2018, Franklin Mayor Ken Moore created Unite Williamson in an effort to bring together and connect faith-based organizations for the benefit of everyone in our community. The group held its first inter-faith prayer breakfast in Fall 2018.
