2013 Chili Cook-off set for Third Avenue South during Pumpkinfest

14 teams now in competition for Judges and People’s Choice Awards

Franklin Tomorrow’s 11th annual Chili Cook-off is set for Saturday, Oct. 26,on Third Avenue South between Franklin City Hall and the Historic Courthouse.

Darrell Waltrip Automotive is once again a co-presenting sponsor for the event, which will feature 14 teams vying for the coveted People’s Choice and Judges’ Choice Awards, as well as Best Booth Decor.

Teams ready to compete include Merridee’s Breadbasket; 101st Airborne, 327th Batallion Bulldogs; Clark Shelton for McCreary’s; Bob Parks Realty; Franklin City Club; Culver’s of Franklin; Franklin Firefighters Local 3758; Zolo’s Italian Restaurant; YOUR Williamson Magazine; Corner Pub of Franklin; Kimbro’s Restaurant; My Friend’s House; Brian Irvin for Team Transformations; and Franklin Noon Rotary BBQ Society.

Serving will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m. or the chili runs out! Beer will also be available under the food tent at the event, which is again located on Third Avenue South between the Historic Courthouse and Franklin City Hall.

Each tasting tray will contain 14, two-ounce samplings from the teams. A ticket for voting accompanies every tray. Hot dogs cooked by the volunteers from ATMOS Energy will be available, as well as drinks and chips and perhaps even dessert.
