Williamson Inc., Franklin Tomorrow, Williamson County Association of REALTORS, Williamson Herald & HomePage Media to join in Oct. 7 event
Learn how candidates stand on the issues in the upcoming contested at-large aldermanic races in the City of Franklin during a Candidates Forum Monday, Oct. 7, presented by Franklin Tomorrow, Williamson Inc., Williamson Herald, Franklin HomePage, and the Williamson County Association of REALTORS.
The program will begin at 6 p.m. at Franklin City Hall, 109 3rd Ave. S., in downtown Franklin and is expected to last up to two hours. It will be broadcast on the City’s Franklin TV and reported in local media.
All candidates have agreed to participate in the forum, which will allow each candidate an opening statement and the chance to answer all questions asked by the presenting organizations, as well as questions submitted in advance by the community. While the City of Franklin is divided into four wards, Franklin also has four at-large aldermen who represent the City as a whole, elected in races labeled A, B, C, D. The City’s mayor is elected by the entire City. Those seats are on the ballot on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
Candidates include:
Alderman A: Alderman Clyde Barnhill is being challenged by Howard W. Garrett
Alderman B: Alderman Brandy Blanton is being challenged by Michelle P. Sutton
Alderman C: Alderman Pearl Bransford is being challenged by Bhavani K. Muvvala
Alderman D: Alderman Ann Petersen is running unopposed.
Mayor: Incumbent Dr. Ken Moore is running unopposed.
Early voting will occur Wednesday, Oct. 2, -Thursday, Oct. 17. The last day to register to vote for the Oct. 22 election is Monday, Sept. 23.
This event is free and the public is invited and attendees may submit questions through their pre-registration or by sending them to mindy@franklintomorrow.org. No questions will be allowed from the audience during the event.
