State Sen. Jack Johnson (right) on Monday presented a resolution honoring Franklin Tomorrow on the 25th anniversary of its founding during the organization’s monthly FrankTalks lecture. Accepting the proclamation were (from left) Julian Bibb III, Franklin Tomorrow founder; Peggy Kidd, Franklin Tomorrow Board Chair; and Mindy Tate, Franklin Tomorrow CEO.

Franklin Tomorrow kicked off its 25th anniversary week on Monday, March 17, with the presentation of a state resolution by Sen. Jack Johnson during its monthly FrankTalks lecture at The Factory at Franklin.

Johnson, R-Franklin, represents the 27th District in the Tennessee Senate and is Senate majority leader.

In part, the resolution honored Franklin Tomorrow, which “presents information programs that allow the community to be engaged and informed about the challenges that face Franklin as well as the positive things happening in the community; these programs include FrankTalks, a monthly lecture series, and Breakfast With The Mayors, a quarterly lecture series.”

Also planned this week is a Founders’ Day breakfast, which is open to the public, on Thursday, March 20, the day Julian Bibb III, along with co-founders Mike Alday, Gayle Moyer Harris, Dick Gygi, and others, filed the necessary paperwork in 2000 to create Franklin Tomorrow.

Records show this was the day in 2000 Julian Bibb III filed the necessary paperwork with the State of Tennessee to create Franklin Tomorrow. Then began two years of work by hundreds of people in our community, working with our consultant Jamie Greene of ACP-Visioning & Planning, now planning NEXT of Columbus, Ohio, to set goals and select strategies for the purpose of initiating and implementing a broad-based, community-driven vision.

During our anniversary breakfast, we will revisit and remember some of the highlights of those 25 years, but also look at what’s ahead for Franklin Tomorrow as we work to continue to accomplish our mission today to engage the community, foster collaboration and advocate for a shared vision for the future of Franklin.

We will gather March 20th at 1799 Kitchen & Cocktails at The Harpeth Hotel, 130 2nd Ave. N., in downtown Franklin. Free parking is available in the City of Franklin Second Avenue Garage or paid parking in The Harpeth’s garage adjacent to the hotel.
