Thursday, September 27 is the deadline to register to host a table during Franklin Tomorrow’s new community initiative, On the Table. The link to register: https://signup.e2ma.net/signup/1878979/4756/

On the Table is a one-day opportunity for the people of Franklin to gather in small groups around a table with friends, neighbors, colleagues and maybe even a few people meeting for the first time, to share a meal and have a real conversation about what’s important. Tuesday, October 30 has been selected as the official date.

“We are thrilled with the folks who have pledged to host a table,” stated Mindy Tate, Executive Director for Franklin Tomorrow. “We also have organizations, such as churches and nonprofits, who have stated they will be Super Hosts by hosting more than one table. To help in preparation for the October 30 event, we need people interested in becoming host to register at https://signup.e2ma.net/signup/1878979/4756/ by September 27th.”

“Now more than ever people need to connect, engage, know their neighbors and participate in civil and civic discourse,” added Tate.  “We know that big ideas can spring from small conversations and that people invest in what they help create. Table hosts will help facilitate these conversations, and we will depend on them to bring a diversity of viewpoints, ideas, and opinions.”

Table hosts will gather with groups of 8-12 people for a meal and discussion about topics that are important to them. Hosts will receive training, a toolkit, and supporting materials to make the day a success. For more information, visit Franklin Tomorrow’s website at www.franklintomorrow.org/onthetable. Anyone who lives or works in Franklin can be a table host – church groups, neighborhood associations, non-profits, school clubs, business owners, and individuals who wish to be more involved in the community are encouraged to participate.

On the Table conversations are intended to inspire people to take action and seize opportunities in the community. Adding a diversity of voices provides unique discussions around varying issues that matter to the community.  After conversations happen, participants will be asked to share their outcomes and provide feedback around topics discussed.  Franklin Tomorrow will continue to share and discuss the findings to explore ways in which Franklin can work together to create the most engaged, generous and welcoming community for all.
