The event will begin at 9 a.m. with a 30-minute coffee social, followed by the presentation at 9:30 a.m. by Doug Delaney, senior supervising planner for WSP Nashville, and others participating in the study. Williamson County is at the center of an important study currently under way in the region – the South Corridor Study – being led by The Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) with support from local governments and other agencies.
The South Corridor Study will identify a series of short-, mid-, and long-term recommendations to implement the vision for rapid transit between Nashville, Berry Hill, Oak Hill, Brentwood, Franklin, Thompson‘s Station, Spring Hill, and Columbia, as well as other neighborhoods, communities, employment centers, and destinations along the 35-mile south corridor.
The study was initiated by the GNRC in partnership with the WeGo Public Transit and the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). WeGo and the counties and cities have contributed funding to support undertaking the study.
The South Corridor Study includes three major transportation routes: I-65, Franklin Pike (SR-6/US 31), and the CSX railway. The study will also consider cross-town connections as well as connectivity with neighboring communities outside of the limits of the primary transportation routes, such as Mt. Pleasant in Maury County.
Delaney is a senior supervising planner in WSP’s Nashville office and he is the WSP Project Manager for the South Corridor Study. Delaney has experience in community and regional planning, transportation, public involvement and outreach, transit studies, environmental studies, environmental management systems, and context sensitive solutions.
Prior to joining WSP, Delaney served both as the Assistant Chief of Environment and Planning and Director of the Environmental Division for the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).
